Neuter Commuter

While over 70% of our clients come from our targeted service areas in Bay County, Operation Spay Bay was created to serve the animals of NW Florida, some as far as 100 miles away. Several times a month the Neuter Commuter makes a run out to neighboring counties to bring cats and dogs to our clinic for spay/neuter/wellness services. We work with several groups in the Panhandle, some who transport themselves, others take advantage of our Neuter Commuter program. Both rescue and public owned cats and dogs are brought to our clinic, services rendered and taken back the same day. Kudos to our transport drivers as this day begins very early and ends late in the day. The success of this program gives those in outlying areas access to affordable care that otherwise would not be feasible for many.
Love of Paws Mobile Unit

We were honored in 2020 to be awarded a grant from PetSmart Charities to purchase our Mobile Veterinary Unit. Operation Spay Bay began doing off-site vaccination clinics in 2018 after Hurricane Michael destroyed our county. The need was great and we stepped up to the plate. The clinics are a very successful way to bring basic wellness services to the community and establish a relationship with those in need. At first we did several clinics in locations such as fire stations, parking lots, parks and the like. While such locations worked for dogs, cats were a little more difficult and risk of flight was a concern. With the mobile unit we have a contained space to work from and it makes transporting all of our supplies easier. With the addition of another veterinarian soon we plan to increase our off-site vaccination clinics in the near future, so stay tuned!
